6 to 12 month fixed-term contract for an HR Advisor based in Masterton

Your new company

This Masterton-based organisation provides essential public services to communities in the Wairarapa and the wider Wellington region. Working closely with their partner organisations in Wellington CBD and the Hutt Valley, they are committed to delivering high-quality services and are seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join their COVID-19 Response team. The contract is between 6 and 12 months and has the opportunity to work at reduced hours.

Your new role

Your role will be part of the wider People & Capability team but will be located with the COVID team at their base.

As the HR Advisor, you will work in partnership with the HR Manager looking after all the dynamics and challenges that comes from having to move and flex a workforce reasonably quickly. In an ever-changing environment like the COVID space, it is important to ensure the organisation has the right people at the right time, so you will assess and advise on the team's structure and dynamics to maintain smooth service delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be an experienced HR Advisor or a senior administrator in an HR team, with experience in dealing with the everyday BAU work that comes with supporting a team of approximately 100 people, including conflict management and disciplinary processes.

As this is a dynamic environment, it would be useful if you have change experience, including assisting to evaluate and review structures, manage change processes etc.

What you'll get in return

You have the option of working between 30 and 40 hours per week, so you will have a good work-life balance in case you have other commitments throughout your week. While the first part of this role will need to be on-site, after the initial orientation period there can be a discussion around doing some of your work days from home.
