Finance Business Partner / Commercial Analyst

Your new role

You will help develop manager’s financial acumen, proactively educate and challenge managers to understand and utilise the advice and information for decision-making, financial stewardship, measurement and achievement against business plans. The role is the first point of contact for managers to ensure they have access to critical financial information to run their business. You will also promote and educate manager’s use of self-service reporting tools.

This role is responsible for planning, performance reporting, analysis work for the units or department and assist the Senior Financial Advisor & Finance Manager with developing consolidated department and divisional information

Financial performance
• Finalise monthly financial operating and capital performance results, and ensure integrity of information at
both the management and local board level
• Support the Finance Manager and Senior Financial Advisor with consolidated divisional performance reporting
and analysis as required
• Analyse financial results, provide performance insights and ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making and
actions to improve financial performance for both the management and local boards
• Analyse performance of key expenditures and revenue streams and identify trends, issues, and opportunities
for improvement
• Forecast operating and capital budgets, and key performance measure results reviewing risks and
opportunities, and recommend actions to improve results
• Identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies
• Support the capital deferrals process during the year

Efficiency and effectiveness
• Apply commercially focused measurement techniques to assess and improve efficiency and effectiveness
within assigned business units or departments
• Proactively seek out improvement initiatives to strategies, systems and processes
• Ensuring financial structures are aligned with management responsibilities
• Contribute to organisation-wide Finance strategy and policy development
• Align Finance policy, processes and services with the department’s business objectives and contribute to
strategic and operational business planning

What you'll need to succeed

QUALIFICATIONS
• A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or business management
• Professional registration with CA or similar professional qualification

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Mandatory:
• Experience in financial modelling skills especially for business case preparation and benefits analysis
• First-hand experience in developing complex budgeting and forecasting models and planning
• Knowledge of commercially focused best practice business performance measurement and reporting
o financial and non-financial measures
o statistical and data analysis
o report preparation
• Experience in large financial management information systems (SAP and Hyperion desirable)
• Experience in a range of computer packages, including MS office, in particular with intermediate to advance
excel skills
• Able to articulate conversations and communicate effectively, particularly with non-financial people
