The company:
This client is based in Western Springs in Auckland and is one of Auckland’s largest family destinations to visit. This establishment has been around since 1922 as a council-controlled organisation and is part of a charitable trust and Auckland Unlimited. The Technical Services Department at this establishment look after everything from the environment, design and construction including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, concreting, fencing, building crates and decorating. This department is filled of people that are specialised in areas or are jack of all trades.

The role:
To deliver the technical and operational services required to ensure this establishment renews and maintains its assets, facilities and animal habitats in a safe and sustainable manner. This position provides labourer and support as and when required. The technicians are responsible for constructing new assets, undertaking a broad range of planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on all assets, as well as technical and operations support on, but not limited to:
  • Carpentry, painting and decorating
  • Hard landscaping, fencing and decks
  • Concreting and stonework
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Electrical, plumbing and gas
  • Refrigeration and HVAC
This position is a hands-on role. Weekday and Weekend duties will be required on a rostered basis and this position will be required to work flexibly across other departments including environment and design and construction.
The nature of the business is that the establishment operates 7 days a week. As such, occasional out of hour’s response and attendance will be necessary and required.
This company is looking for females with trade experience to join their growing and diverse team culture. This is for someone who enjoys working around animals of all sizes in an outdoor environment. This person must have basic understanding of using tools. This individual should have a positive attitude towards work, a strong work ethic, well-mannered and be able to think for yourself. Someone who is passionate about their job and is comfortable working outside in rain or shine. Ideally for someone who enjoys working in a team and can physically keep up with the workload.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or similar activity
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more craft or trade is desirable
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, outlook) and mobile technology would be desirable
  • Excellent level of physical fitness
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • The flexibility to deal with rapidly changing demands, under pressure and within timelines.
  • A strong customer focus, commitment to providing quality customer service and consistently able to work under minimal supervision in a safe manner
  • Full NZ driver licence, with ability to drive manual vehicles is desirable
  • Class 2, 3, 4 heavy transport licence is desirable
  • Endorsement F, W.T.R is desirable
  • Certificate or trades qualification in one of the technical areas is desirable
